Diane Morris sets up shop in St. Rose lobby Double click on image to enlarge Wednesday, 26 September 2012 When visitors to St. Rose Ambulatory & Surgery Center notice the sign in the lobby that says “Diane’s”, they may wonder if it is any relation to Diane’s Diner, 807 E. 10th. The answer is, yes, they are related. Diane’s might be considered little sister to the older sibling; Diane Morris owns and operates both sites. Morris and St. Rose collaborated to open her second location to serve patients, visitors, employees and the general public. “We have been open just a few weeks and it’s going great,” Morris said. “Our menu here at St. Rose is different but we have a lot of options for breakfast and lunch.” The menu includes breakfast burritos, pizzas and bowls, as well as biscuits and gravy and cinnamon rolls. For lunch and snacks, Diane’s offers daily specials including soup and sandwich, along with sub sandwiches, tacos, nachos, pies and pretzels. And on Fridays, it’s hamburgers and fries. “This is already very popular,” Morris said. “You ought to see them line up. “It’s kind of a ‘grab-and-go’ type of place,” Morris added. “But people can eat here in the dining area any time. This is what St. Rose wanted and we were glad to make it happen. It is really a nice group of people here.” Morris noted that some of her regular diner patrons have found her at St. Rose. “Our customers from down east are coming this way,” she said. “We are getting a lot of walk-ins from the public.” Diane’s regular hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. However, Morris and her team have already catered to a St. Rose department that had a 4 p.m. meeting. “The maintenance people couldn’t meet until four o’clock, so we came back and took care of them,” Morris said. “The various departments will call us with a lunch order and we have it ready for them.” Morris has noticed one other type of customer – the one who had been fasting before getting lab work done at St. Rose. “They want something right now,” she laughed.
